Arizona State Information

In Arizona, over 96,000 children live with grandparents, and nearly 37,000 children living with other relative caregivers. Additionally, over 52,000 grandparents reported having their grandchildren living with them.

The State is able to offer a multitude of programs to assist grandparents and other relative caregivers. Such programs exist through the State Agencies by way of the National Family Caregiver Support Program, which provides funding for services and assistance to relative caregivers. The University of Arizona also assists in coordinating efforts of other Kinship Care Agencies, and has developed a manual for grandparents who care for the grandchildren.

Arizona offers a diverse range of services, support, and assistance for relative care families. Through public and private partnerships the state has been able to place many children with relatives, and prevent their entrance into the foster system.
